Autumn Garden 2024

This year I decided to go all out with Dahlia tubers! I am definitely already looking forward to adding to my collection for next year. These flowers are so fun and each is so intricate. The colour varieties come in a wide range and they just keep blooming until it gets too cold outside. They are the perfect flower for the fall weather and I look forward to growing them again next year!! xoxo Georgina

So, a couple of weeks ago on a nice sunny day Sophie and I spent some time outside potting our flowers seed. This is the first year that I am going to stay my seeds indoors and early! Zinnias are my favourite and are sooo easy to grow! I usually just throw them in my front garden bed in mid May an they seem to do just fine  on their own. This year we will start them in doors in their own little pots, and then we will move them outdoors around mis May, when there's no more chance of frost. It's so exciting to watch them grow!! Along with zinnias we also got some poppy's, portulaca and dahlia's. All seem to be doing well so far. Our neighbours shared some herb sprouts with us as well, but I think I'll wait till May to start those outdoors.
It was definitely a learning experience for Sophie and she is very excited watching them grow! She loved picking little flower bunches last year, so she'll love it even more this year I'm sure!!
I hope everyone is getting excited for all the new growth in nature like I am! It is truly a magical time of year when everything comes back to life and there's just so much more colour in the world. I can't wait to go back to the park and walk past everyone's beautiful garden beds! xoxo Georgina

The Cactus House in Breslau

At the beginning of this month (February) my best friend Amanda and I took a road trip to Breslau for the "Cactus Festival" at the Belgian Nursery! I went last summer with Sophie and it's such a pretty escape from the world, plus we LOVE plants especially cacti!! We had such a fun little day trip and on our way home we stopped in at the Flamborough Antique Market, plants and antiques are my love language and I'm so glad I can share that with my bestie! It was a fun day and I hope we can do it again in the future. Thanks for letting me share, I hope everyone has a great week! xoxo Georgina

Cactus Planter

I have been gearing up for spring! So many plans, just waiting for warmer weather. Will it ever come? I decided that a safe and fun project for now is this cactus planter. I can keep it inside for now, and then when it's warm enough outside, I can move it outside.

Playing with colours is the fun part with cactus gardens. A lot of cactus' and succulents are just green, but you can get some fun coloured ones. The green one with the purple/pink buds is called a Spring Cactus. These are easy to take care of, and don't require full sunlight or much water. The yellow one is called a Moon Cactus. This one is also pretty easy to take care of, and likes sunlight. The white one with the pink flower on top is a generic Cactus, is is extremely prickly with large needles all over.

And the little green one is a succulent, they also like a lot of sunlight.

Cute Quorra posing with our new planter. Cats are so interested in everything! Hopefully these cactus' will be happy inside waiting until they get to go outside and make our balcony a lot more colourful! Happy Sunday everyone! xoxo Georgina

How To Care For Air Plants

Air plants are one of the easiest plants to take care of. They are also super cute and can be displayed in many different ways. They like a lot of sun, but don't need a lot of water.

I got these four different kinds. They are super cheap. I got them from Garden Gallery along with the globe hanging planter (which was also inexpensive).

All you do is amerce them in filtered water once a week for about 15-20 mins, and then lay them out to dry on a paper towel. Then you can put them back up on display however you like!

Like I said EASY! And so much fun! I am on the hunt for some colourful bloomed ones, but mostly they come in green. I might also get some small stones or sand for the base of my globe rather than just having them by themselves. Maybe some brightly coloured stones!!!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend! xoxo Georgina
