Playing Photographer

As I said a week ago, my brother and his girlfriend got engaged. They let me play photographer for a bit!!! We did a bunch of cool shots in the snow and the weather was perfect. It even started snowing! I don't yet have a photo editing program (such as photoshop) and our Canon DSLR didn't come with one either... The only editing I can do right now is directly using the camera. The only edit I like so far is the focus to blur. The camera lets you select the area you want to focus (make clear) and then it blurs out the rest of the image, making for a neat effect! With a photo editing program I will be able to do numerous other things to pictures including changing the pigment of the image (black and white, sepia, etc...). For now I am just going to have to make due.

Do you have any suggestions on photo editing programs I should look into? If so, please leave suggestions in the comments! I would be happy to hear from anyone who knows.

I am just learning, but am quickly realizing how much I love photography and how much I want to continue getting better and better, while still keeping it just a hobby (not an obsession).
